Geologist John Marshall will talk on the tourmaline discovery at Newry, Maine, and
other interesting minerals in our area. He will have slides and samples.

June 30: CAVE ART by Fran Herbert
Fran Herbert is a paleoarcheologist who will talk about life and art in ice age Europe.
Their art is all about animals, and she will show slides of the famous cave paintings and sculptures.
Some of the paintings could have been made yesterday of animals we know today.

July 14: LANDSCAPING TO ATTRACT BIRDS by Palmer Koelb
Palmer Koelb, owner of Baker Valley Nurseries, and a landscape gardener for 30 years will
talk about the plants and designing the plantings.

July 28: PLANETS IN AND OUT OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM by Leslie YoungDr. Leslie
Young will show slides of new discoveries in the solar system, and also discuss the recent
controversy over whether Pluto is really a planet.

August 11: WILD MUSHROOMS by Faith Hunt,
Faith Hunt, President of the Mycology Club of Hanover will lead a walk,
looking for edible mushrooms. If we find enough, we will fry them up and share a taste.
She will also show slides of common mushrooms to seek and avoid.

August 25: WHEN WILD ANIMALS MAKE THEMSELVES AT HOME with Paul DeBow
Mr. Debow removes problem wild animals from inappropriate places. He will talk about
how to avoid problems to begin with, and show slides of animals in
conflict with human settlement.
Programs begin at 7:00 o'clock in the evening at the Quincy Bog Nature Center located on Quincy Bog Road, off Quincy Road, in Rumney, New Hampshire.
