Nature Walks in Summer 2005
- Birds, Flowers, Nature -- Saturday, May 14
Meet at the kiosk at the enterance to Quincy Bog at 7:00 a.m. for a general nature walk at the Bog. John Williams will lead. Bring binoculars if you have them. This event is jointly sponsored by the Pemigewasset Chapter of the Audubon Society of New Hampshire as a continuation of the traditional Baker River Valley Birdathon-Bloomathon walk. - Moss and Liverwort Workshop-- Saturday, August 27
Meet at the kiosk at the entrance to Quincy Bog at 9:00 a.m. Bring a
hand lens 10X or higher power. Bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) are
fascinating, diverse, and hardy little plants with over 700 species in
New England alone. Join Mary Lincoln, avid amateur bryologist, on a walk
and learn to identify some of the more easily identified species. You

- Mushroom Walk -- Saturday, September 17
Starting at the Nature Center at 11:00 AM Faith Hunt will lead this popular walk for the 6th year. . Bring a basket and a knife. We'll walk the Bog learning about mushrooms. After the walk, we will have a pot luck late lunch featuring the edible mushrooms (please bring food to share with the group) Candy and Al Ports will our hosts. If you are bringing something that needs to be refrigerated, bring it to their house at the end of Cranberry Bog Road first.
